Los Angeles Lakers reserve guard Bronny James scored the first goal of his NBA career Wednesday night in garbage time of his team’s 134-110 loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also received a standing ovation upon entering the game.

After the fight, he spoke about the reception he received in Cleveland, since the fans sung “We want Bronny!” before entering the contest in the fourth quarter.

“It was crazy,” James said. “Much more than I expected. It’s all love. It was a nice moment. The chants really got me, I was serious but I felt it. And it felt really good, especially coming from here. It was a special moment for Yo for sure.”

His father, LeBron James, was proud of how he handled the situation.

“My feeling is that he was better than I would have been in that situation,” he said. “Twenty thousand fans screaming my name to get into the game, wanting me to be in the game, if the roles had been reversed, I don’t know if I would have been able to handle it. I just commend him for his composure. His approach to not only the game but the life in general. And to see him get his first NBA basket in this arena, where he grew up not far from here, is an incredible moment for him, the first of them “For our family, it’s great to be a part. from this”.

The younger James spent a lot of time in Cleveland, where his father played from the 2003-04 to 2009-10 seasons and then the 2014-15 to 2017-18 seasons. Bronny was born in Cuyahoga Falls, about 40 minutes from Cleveland, so it was a return he was looking forward to.

“It’s going to be really special,” he said. told reporters during Wednesday’s shootaround. “It feels good to be here with my dad in our house. It feels good to be here. It’s nice and quiet living here in Ohio, very different from Los Angeles.”

The night did not result in a victory for the Lakers. However, it was a game that LeBron and Bronny James will never forget.
