Etowah County prepares for high turnout at the polls on Election Day

ETOWAH COUNTY, Alabama (WBRC) – Etowah County officials are preparing for a big turnout at the polls. Etowah County Probate Judge Scott Hassell says he is excited about this year’s election and the county is prepared.

Judge Hassell calls this election historic. He says this is not only an opportunity for Americans to come together and vote, it is our duty.

Judge Hassell says of the 103,000 people who live in Etowah County, 80,000 have registered to vote. Hassell also says the county has plenty of poll workers ready to go.

“We were able to fill all of our poll worker slots. Sometimes that’s a challenge in elections, people just aren’t interested, but we had a few that we had to turn down because we had enough and we’re very excited about that. We completed our poll worker training last week without a hitch. We also completed our voter tabulation machine,” Hassell said.

Judge Hassell says he is seeking a clean and transparent election and believes the county has the people necessary to ensure that happens.
