Central Pennsylvania man who took adult daughter to Capitol riot convicted in child sex abuse case

The father of a Mechanicsburg woman accused of stealing Nancy Pelosi’s laptop and convicted of assault on the US Capitol faces his own criminal charges in two Dauphin County cases.

A Dauphin County jury on Tuesday found Rickey Williams, 58, guilty of assaulting and attempting to rape a girl in 1994. He came forward in April 2021 to report sexual abuse that occurred when he was between the ages of 8 and 18.

This comes on top of his convictions Tuesday morning in this week’s first trial, where a 38-year-old woman accused Williams of sexually abusing her since 1994.

The woman said Williams was a family friend who, when she excused herself to go to the bathroom, actually went to touch and tickle her and her sister when they were children. He said the contact turned into sexual touching as he grew older.

Williams used to be a park ranger who carried a gun on his belt, the woman said, and he held her down and tried to rape her when she was older. He said the assaults continued until he moved out of his family home in his late teens.

The woman testified that she only came forward because her own daughter was sexually assaulted. “That gave me the courage to come forward,” the woman said.

She had reported the abuse less than two weeks after police filed charges against Williams in an unrelated case that is before a jury this week.

In that case, prosecutors accuse Williams of trying to convince a 14-year-old girl in 2021 to send him a video of her urinating.

Prosecutors in court Wednesday showed messages sent between Williams and the girl, named “Olivia,” on the social media app Snapchat, including a photo of Williams’ buttocks and instructions on how she should record sex videos for him.

“What we talk about is what we talk about. … What we do is what we do,” Williams said. “You have to say my name (in the video recording) so I know it’s really you.”

Williams did not know that the person on the other end of the messages was a Dauphin County detective posing as the teenager.

His lawyer said Williams thought the 14-year-old boy was actually his daughter’s ex-boyfriend, Michael Prodanov, trying to irritate him. Prodanov had reported Williams’ daughter to the FBI, saying he had stolen Pelosi’s laptop during the Capitol riot and wanted to sell it to Russia. Charges related to the theft of the laptop were later dropped..

So when a 14-year-old girl added Rickey Williams as a friend on Snapchat out of the blue in April 2021, Williams thought it was Prodanov, according to Crisp. Crisp said Williams was trying to get the person to identify themselves.

Williams “is not very bright” and is not the “super detective of the year,” Crisp said. “But he is him.”

Williams faces charges including solicitation of a child sexual act on a computer, minor sexual abuse and criminal use of a communication device for the incident.

According to court documents, he was held on $25,000 bail. But that was overturned after his conviction for sexual abuse because he texted the victim’s mother saying, “Tell your daughters thank you for lying and destroying my life and marriage.” Williams is in the Dauphin County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Testimony in the Snapchat case is expected to continue through Thursday.

Prodanov Received $50,000 Default Judgment in Defamation Case against his ex-girlfriend, Riley June Williams, in New Jersey Superior Court.

She is in a federal halfway house in Philadelphia, in the final stretch for her three-year prison sentence. She is expected to be released in May.
