Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Completes Final Deliveries to Western North Carolina

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has completed its final deliveries to Western North Carolina for now, according to a Facebook post.

The sheriff’s office delivered two more tractor-trailers filled with local donations to Riverside Baptist Church in Burnsville and Mitchell County in Bakersville. In total, CCSO has delivered six tractor-trailers of supplies to those in need.

CCSO has paused collections and will update the community if there are more needs in the future.

“The generosity we have seen from Columbus County has been overwhelming. You have all reminded us of the true meaning of community: coming together to help others when they need it most. Thank you for the heart you have shown; you are the reason we can do what we do,” said Sheriff Bill Rogers.

CCSO thanked local fire departments and our other dedicated agencies for their support and for providing donations and volunteers.

“Pait’s Tractor LLC and Singletary Small Engine Repair for their support in this relief effort, as well as all the local businesses that contributed to our mission. Remember to shop local – it strengthens our county and the businesses that have supported us during this effort,” CCSO officials wrote.

While they are not currently accepting supplies, each week CCSO will send teams of 5-7 deputies to support patrols and assist local authorities in WENC.

Anyone who can contribute generators, chainsaws or chains should call 910-642-6551 so CCSO can connect them with the appropriate agency for those items still needed in the region.

“Thank you, Columbus County, for embodying what it means to be a compassionate and resilient community. Together we make a difference,” said Sheriff Rogers.
