Maple Heights Police Chief Todd Hansen said officers were called Signature Health at 21100 Southgate Park Blvd. around 1:20 p.m. on April 24.

According to the chief, Halasz was in a locked room with a 49-year-old caretaker when he stabbed him.

The caretaker ran out of the room and Halasz chased him and was able to stab him several more times, before another employee threw a chair at him.

Police said the security officer at the scene was able to confront Halasz and subdue him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and Chief Hansen said he has injuries to his upper body and chest.

Maple Heights Police praised the actions of Signature Health employees, who worked together to apprehend the attacker and care for the victim until first responders arrived.

“Signature Health staff deserve high praise for their heroic actions in the face of danger,” police said.
