David Henrie and Selena Gomez Address Jake T. Austin’s Absence in Wizards Reboot

Wizards beyond Waverly Place got Justin and Alex Russo back after 12 years, but Russo’s younger brother Max appears to be missing.

David Henrie leads the Disney Channel reboot as he reprises his character, Justin, who now has a wife and family and has left his life as the family magician. Selena Gomez, Meanwhile, she guest-starred in the show’s premiere episode as Alex, Justin’s sister, who brought in a young magician, Billie (Janice Lee, Ann Brown), at his brother’s door in the hope that he would agree to be his teacher.

When the reboot series was first announced in JanuaryHenrie, 35, eased fans’ concerns instagram after David DeLuise, who played Russian patriarch Jerry Russo, appeared unaware of the show in an Instagram comment.

However, Henrie quickly dismissed those concerns, as he said in a comment: “We definitely plan to bring back the original cast for the series order .”

DeLuise returned as Jerry on the show, but Max (Austin) and the Russo matriarch, Theresa (Maria Canals-Barrera), have yet to appear.

After his time in Wizards of Waverly PlaceAustin, now 29, went on to star The adoptive ones for two seasons before walking away from the show. He later opened up in an interview with shine about falling into “the trap of being in Hollywood,” as he said he “ran around with the wrong people, made some bad decisions and also didn’t take the job seriously.”

Austin also admitted that he “started to lose touch in a lot of ways” after spending six years in magicians and then The adoptive ones.

“For a while, I was really invested in the characters I played and connected to them, but as I grew up in front of the camera and went through puberty and my life, I lost sight of who I was. as a person.”

However, he still has a friendship with Gomez, as the Rare Beauty mogul joked in a video for vanity fair last month, “Jake, why don’t you ever answer my texts?”
