Man hit by car on Southeast Side last week dies from injuries

A man who was hit by a car last week on Tucson’s southeast side died from his injuries Tuesday.

Alfred T. Diaz, 68, was in the eastbound lane of East Irvington Road shortly before 11 p.m. when he was struck by a Honda CR-V traveling in the same lane, according to a news release from the department. of Tucson Police. Diaz was transported to St. Joseph Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda, who was not injured, stopped and cooperated with authorities. TPD determined that the driver, a 68-year-old man, was not intoxicated at the time, according to the news release.

Detectives are working to determine if Diaz was walking on the road or trying to cross Irvington. It was not in a crosswalk and there are no street lights in that area, according to the news release.
