Three seriously injured early Tuesday in an accident during a police chase in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (WIBW) – Three people were seriously injured in a crash that occurred during a police chase early Tuesday morning in Wichita, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 3:48 a.m. Tuesday near E. Kellogg and Washington streets in the southeast corner of downtown Wichita.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2007 Pontiac G6 was heading west on Kellogg while being actively pursued by a Wichita police unit.

The Pontiac attempted to exit onto Washington Street but failed to negotiate the curve, crossed the grass and struck the embankment of the ramp, the patrol said.

The Pontiac then overturned, ejecting the driver and one of the two passengers.

All three occupants of the Pontiac were transported to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita with serious injuries.

They were identified as the driver, Samuel W. Freeman, 59, of Medicine Lodge; and passengers Nickoles E. Bolson, 29, of Wichita, and Hope Lynn Clark, 34, of Wichita.

The patrol said Freeman and Clark were not wearing seat belts, while Bolson was.
