‘Be a man and debate with me’ – Bawumia responds to Mahama with 50 questions

In a bold response to questions raised by NDC flag bearer John Dramani Mahama, New Patriotic Party presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has released a list of 50 questions challenging Mahama’s leadership record and urging him to confront in a one-on-one confrontation. -a-debate.

Dr Bawumia framed his response as an opportunity for a public assessment of the policies, achievements and governance records between the two presidential hopefuls.

“I would have thought that he would be man enough to confront me in a one-on-one debate for the Ghanaian public to evaluate our respective policies, achievements and visions,” Dr. Bawumia said.

He described Mahama’s initial questions as “weak” and questioned Mahama’s avoidance of direct debate on issues affecting Ghanaians.

Dr Bawumia’s 50 questions cover a range of topics including economic management, social interventions, digitalisation initiatives and infrastructure. He raised questions on topics such as:

  • Mahama’s economic policies during the energy crisis (“dumsor”) period
  • Cancellations of training subsidies for nurses and teachers
  • Measures taken to combat corruption and promote financial inclusion
  • Specific efforts to support critical healthcare services, such as ambulance provisions and services for patients with chronic diseases.
  • Initiatives for digital transformation, such as the Ghana National Identity Card (Ghanacard) program and the digital address system
  • Development projects, including road construction, airport expansion and improvement of health facilities.

Dr Bawumia emphasized policies he claims to have championed, including Free SHS, One Constituency One Ambulance, Ghanacard, digital property addressing, mobile money interoperability and agenda-setting programs such as Agenda 111 and the Zongo Development Fund. Contrasting these initiatives with Mahama’s mandate, he challenged the previous Mahama administration to deliver on campaign promises and address systemic issues such as unemployment, access to health and educational support.

The Vice President also questioned Mahama’s stance on the Free SHS programme, agricultural growth and infrastructure, accusing the NDC administration of neglecting development projects which he believes the current government has significantly advanced.

This exchange has added intensity to the upcoming electoral landscape, with Bawumia pushing for a debate that he believes will allow Ghanaians to assess the vision and performance of each candidate face to face.

Below is Bawumia’s full post.
