New supplier announced for Derbyshire bus services

The DCT ran the council’s shopper bus service in Chesterfield, Bolsover, North East Derbyshire, Erewash and Amber Valley.

It also operated the Travel Derbyshire On Demand trial reservable bus service in Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire.

The authority said these services “will operate exactly as they are now” and the booking app used for the on-demand service will remain the same.

Charlotte Cupit, county council cabinet member for highways and transport assets, said: “We know these services are a lifeline for many communities in the county, so we have been working hard to ensure their continuation.”

The authority added that it had now found operators to take on all the services that DCT ran on its behalf and that its goal was to “make the transfer of these services as fast as possible.”

CT4N managing director Barry Allitt added: “It is always upsetting when an operator like Derbyshire Community Transport takes the step of ceasing trading.

“CT4N will now begin working with the team currently operating the services so that all familiar and friendly drivers can continue to work with CT4N in the future.”
