Jimmy Kimmel urges Republicans not to vote for Donald Trump

One week before election day, Jimmy Kimmel made a serious appeal to moderate Republicans Tuesday night to reconsider casting a yes vote donald trumpusing the former president’s words to defend his return to the White House.

The host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” spent his opening monologue reviewing a series of strange and ridiculous “words that came out of his mouth” over the past nine years. He urged viewers to consider the 2024 presidential race as a matter of “sanity, security and democracy.”

“Here’s the thing. It’s kind of funny – those silly, random rants of yours – and it would be fine – if you were hosting a podcast or selling knives at the Farmers Market. But he’s supposed to lead us. People are listening to it. And the country is getting crazier. Because he makes it okay to be crazy,” Kimmel said.

“Remember all those people who were in Dallas waiting for JFK Jr. and his father to come back to life, and then he would be Trump’s running mate in ’24,” Kimmel said, citing only one bizarre conspiracy theory that has circulated there. Triumph. “Donald Trump is the exact meeting point between QAnon and QVC.”

Kimmel made it a point to ask viewers to ask Republican friends and family to view his monologue as a personal favor to them. It was introduced with a nod to “The Man Show,” the silly, sophomore unscripted comedy series he hosted with Adam Carolla for Comedy Central from 1999 to 2004.

“For those of you who never look, I’m Jimmy Kimmel. You might remember me from ‘The Man Show,’” he said. “We had… we had a pretty good relationship back then. The beer, the trampolines…good times, right? We had fun.”

Kimmel pointed a finger at himself in addressing the bitterness of the nation’s political and cultural divisions today.

“But now times are less fun. We are a week away from elections and we are very divided. And not just for Donald Trump, but for people like, if I’m honest, me,” he said. “I tease and belittle a lot… and it’s not always productive. Am I prejudiced against Donald Trump? Yes. Do I think I have good reason to be biased against him? Yes. And I’m probably wrong, but I think when you hear some of those reasons, you might agree with me, even just a little bit.”

Kimmel listed the many former Trump allies and Cabinet members who have disavowed him in the strongest terms. He referenced the Trump campaign rally Sunday night at Madison Square Garden, where a speaker, Tony Hinchcliffe, hurled racist insults and sparked a firestorm among Puerto Rican voters.

“But if you need more, I suggest you watch the rally he had at Madison Square Garden or listen to the three hours of his interview with Joe Rogan. Because most elections are about politics. This one is not. It’s about sanity. And security. And democracy,” Kimmel said.

“You know, the other day I saw a T-shirt that said, “I support Trump because he makes the people who make me angry.” And it’s funny. And I understand it. Sometimes it seems like no one has a sense of humor anymore. But is that really all we want for America? Is it making each other angry? “I don’t want that.”

The monologue closed with Kimmel bringing out his old pal Guillermo Rodriguez to reinforce his points that Trump’s radical agenda on immigration is un-American.

“This is Guillermo. He is an immigrant: he became a US citizen. And this is a toast to our fellow Americans,” Kimmel said as the two raised large mugs of beer.
