The truth behind the failed trade between Warriors and Clippers is revealed

One of the biggest conversations of the offseason was Paul George’s departure from the LA Clippers. While George ultimately ended up leaving the team, there was some talk about the All-Star being traded to the Golden State Warriors.

It turns out the Warriors didn’t even seriously offer Jonathan Kuminga in their trade talks with Paul George.

According to a report by Ohm Youngmisuk from ESPNJonathan Kuminga’s name never seriously came up in trade talks between the Clippers and Warriors. Here is the exact excerpt from Ohm’s article.

“League sources also told ESPN that Kuminga’s name never seriously came up in major conversations between the Clippers and Warriors.” oh he said. “If a trade for a star occurs before the deadline, the Warriors are expected to be in the mix. They have future first-round picks and trades to negotiate, and are only owed the protected first-round pick in the top 20 best of 2030. Washington of the agreement with Jordan Poole.”

Last week, Warriors star Draymond Green mentioned that the Warriors had plans to acquire both Paul George and Lauri Markkanen, but that the Clippers weren’t willing to play. Turns out the Warriors were the team that wasn’t actually willing to play.

The LA Clippers let Paul George walk without making a trade, but what they acquired in Derrick Jones Jr., Nicolas Batum and Kris Dunn was far better than anything the Warriors could have given them.
