Man faces dangerous animal charge after Myrtle Beach police shoot ‘aggressive’ dog

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Police Department confirmed it arrested a man in connection with an incident in which an officer shot an “aggressive” dog.

Myrtle Beach Police were called to the 600 block of North Ocean Boulevard at 10:14 p.m. Sunday to investigate a public disturbance.

Daniel Linck, 45, was arrested in connection with the disturbance and faces charges including possession of a dangerous animal.

Officers at the scene found a Linck with a dog. The dog began attacking officers and they used “less-than-lethal countermeasures to prevent it from attacking,” but that didn’t work, according to MBPD.

Ultimately, an officer shot the dog, which was then taken to an animal hospital, police said. The dog is expected to be well.

One officer was taken to the hospital after the incident, but has since been released.

WMBF News has requested reports of the incident and we will update this story as new information becomes available.

Linck is being held at the J Reuben Long Detention Center.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 843-918-1382.
