Paolo Banchero made a selfless quote about his Magic teammate after scoring 50 points

Paolo Banchero had a night to remember on Monday as he scored a career-high 50 points to lead the Orlando Magic to a 119-115 victory over the Indiana Pacers at the Kia Center.

But Banchero, talking to Dante Marchitelli of FanDuel Sports Network Florida after the game wanted to make sure teammate Anthony Black got the credit he deserves. The sophomore guard scored a crucial go-ahead 3-pointer with 33.1 seconds left in the game.

First, Banchero yelled “AB!” As Black walked by, he then shared some words of congratulations for his teammate in a cool moment. When asked about Black, Banchero gave glowing praise.

“That shows the work he put in all summer,” Banchero said. “He’s not afraid of the moment. He took the first three, missed, came back and shot the second without hesitation.

“He basically won the game for us. I’m very proud of that kid. That’s my friend. He’s got a lot more in his future, he’s a special player.”

Banchero, who also tied the Magic record for points scored in a half with 37 in the first two quarters, was full of praise for his teammates. He called guard Jalen Suggs the “heart and soul” of the team, adding that the Magic “wouldn’t be as good” without the Gonzaga product.

And Banchero even added a funny phrase. When Marchitelli asked him how he felt, he responded simply: “I’m tired. I’m very tired.”

Banchero’s interview—and his selflessness as a teammate—was truly on par with his performance on the court on Monday.
