Golden Retriever meets his new puppy brother and it’s truly love at first sight

I know a woman who says the best thing you can do for your older dog is get her a puppy. She claims that it is the best way to keep the dogs in the house, to “stagger” the arrival of the puppies so that the old dog is always there to teach the new dog the ropes, and the new puppy can support the older dog. young and carefree.

After seeing adult Golden Retriever Cinna’s excitement over the arrival of her new puppy brother Bronze, I’m inclined to agree. You’ve never seen a dog happier than Cinna upon meeting this adorable pup, and it’s clear the feeling is mutual.

Cinna is a Golden Retriever living in North Carolina and she just received a big surprise in the form of an adorable puppy.a small golden male called Bronze. (Yes, we also see that it is fun).

For Cinna, I find this new puppy Obviously it is a case of love at first sight. She is so overcome with emotion that she doesn’t know what to do. She’s pawing the ground excitedly, torn between wanting to jump up and play with the little one and also being very aware that she’s so much bigger than this fluffy baby could easily scare him.

Finally, Cinna rolls over onto her back, showing him her belly in a sign of gentleness and vulnerability in hopes of reassuring him. And it works, as the little one carefully approaches her.

Oooh. We believe this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Introduce a new puppy to your other pets

Obviously, Cinna was ready, willing and able to be a good big sister. to the new puppyBut even the most reserved dogs can learn to get along with their new puppy. It may take more than a few seconds.

“Golden retrievers are the best dogs,” says one person in the comments, raving about how quickly she was able to calm the pup down.

“Which one is the puppy?” joked another.

Best practices for introducing a new pet into the house

It is sad that older dogs are often abandoned or even euthanized when a new puppy comes into the home. Shelter workers hear misleading stories about how the old dog was “reactive” or aggressive toward the new puppy. But if the introduction of new pets is handled responsibly, with training for both old and new dogs, then they should learn to live well together.

If there is a suspicion that the older dog will not welcome the arrival of a newcomer, introductions should be made slowly, without the new dog taking up the space of the old one. He new dog should be restricted at first to one or two rooms in the house, so that both parties can have time apart, and all meetings should be supervised until they know each other. In particular, meals should be served while the dogs are separated, as food can often be a trigger for aggression.

And, as shown here, they should be given time to play together in a wide, open space, where they have enough room to approach each other and also retreat if they are overstimulated.

It is also important to “think like a dog” and understand that the way an older dog can “correct” a misbehaving puppy is through warning growls or small bites. It’s not really aggressive, it’s just natural.
