What is at stake in the elections is ‘life or death’

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace She argued that what is at stake in the 2024 election is “literally life or death for every woman in America.”

At the beginning of 5 pm on Monday Deadline: White HouseWallace reproduced comments from the former First Lady michelle obama in Michigan. The MSNBC host began those comments, which were directed at men but focused on women’s reproductive health, by arguing that the very livelihood of all women in America is at stake in the 2024 election.

“Former first lady Michelle Obama is done messing around,” Wallace said. “Because with women’s reproductive health care and freedoms at stake next Tuesday, what is at stake is literally life or death for every woman in America. It’s not hyperbole. It’s not an exaggeration. “This is what will happen next week.”

Wallace then performed the michelle obama comments:

“To the men who love us, let me try to paint a picture of how you will feel if the United States, the richest nation in the world, continues to revoke basic care for its women. And how it will affect all the women in your life.

Your girlfriend could be in legal jeopardy if she needs a pill from out of state or abroad, or if she has to travel across state lines because the local clinic closed. Your wife or mother could be the ones most at risk of dying from undiagnosed cervical cancer because they don’t have access to regular gynecological care. Your daughter might be the one who is too afraid to call the doctor if she bleeds during an unexpected pregnancy.

This won’t just affect women. It will affect you and your children. The devastating consequences of teenage pregnancy will not only be borne by girls, but also by the young men who are the fathers. They will also have the dream of going to university. Her entire future is completely disrupted by an unwanted pregnancy.

If you and your partner are expecting a child, you will be by your side at the controls. Terrified if her blood pressure is too high or if there’s a problem with the placenta or if the ultrasound shows the embryo implanted in the wrong place and the doctors aren’t sure they can intervene to keep the woman you love safe. I ask you from the depths of my being to take our lives seriously. Please.”

“An incredible plea,” Wallace said, exiting the clip. “Ask all the men in the country to think about us, the women they love, who in most cases are there if we have a miscarriage or something goes wrong, as she said. Michelle Obama asks every man in this country to think about what will happen if all our access to health care disappears next Tuesday. It hasn’t happened yet. “That’s what’s at stake.”
