Pitt County launches new app ahead of tax season

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – With property tax season underway, Pitt County is launching a new free app to simplify property tax payments ahead of the January 6 deadline.

Pitt County Tax Administration, in partnership with pay-it, introduced the “my-pitt-county” app.

The app offers a timely and easy-to-use alternative to traditional payment methods.

Residents can pay their taxes online without visiting the county office or mailing a check.

The platform provides flexibility, such as the ability to schedule payments, securely store payment information, and review payment history.

Russell Hill, Pitt County Tax Administrator, says the application will be very beneficial as tax season is right around the corner.

“We tried to mail them in mid-July. Pitt County offers a discount; this year it was about half a percent if paid by August 31,” Russell says. “If they don’t want to take advantage of the discount, payments are normally due no later than January 5 without any interest, so they have a couple of months and if someone wants to pay partial payments, they can do so through the app. of those traditional options.”

Residents can make payments in the app using direct transfers from bank accounts, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

The “my-pitt-county” app is available on the Apple Store or Google Play.
