Man injured in downtown Toronto shooting, 1 suspect sought

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a shooting Sunday night on Toronto’s downtown east side.

The incident occurred in the Cabbagetown South neighborhood, near Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East.

Toronto police said they were called to that area shortly before 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots heard nearby.

They said officers found a male victim with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and a vehicle was seen fleeing the area.

Police say the two suspects, a man and a woman, fled the area.

In a follow-up post on X, they said officers located the suspects’ vehicle, which was involved in a single-vehicle collision.

One of the suspects was arrested, while the other fled.

A firearm was also recovered, they said.

No further description of the suspect is available at this time.

There is currently a greater police presence in the area.

Sherbourne is closed between Dundas and Gerrard streets and police are asking drivers to use alternative routes.
