Dyck wants to build a relationship as RM Reeve – SwiftCurrentOnline.com

A newcomer to municipal politics wants to build relationships like Reeve for the RM of Swift Current.

Romona Dyck brings her experience in school administration and business management to the race to replace the retiring Reeve Robert Neufeld.

“My husband, Brian, and I have lived in the RM of Swift Current since 1986 and own and manage the family farm,” Dyck said. “I just feel strongly that there should be an openness to all the concerns of the taxpayers in Swift Current. Although I have never served on the board before, I did serve on the school board of the Wymark School Board when our children attended school there.

“I feel I have strong organizational and administrative skills just from the management I do on our family farm. I have a good understanding of rural life and the needs of the people in an RM. I am just very anxious to serve RM taxpayers in an equitable and fair manner.”

Dyck also has a history in the art community.

“I was employed by the Art Gallery and the Swift Current Allied Arts Council for a number of years,” she noted. “The management skills I bring to the company; I am responsible for financial planning, financing applications, payroll, marketing our crops. I have strong organizational skills.”

Building relationships would be a top priority if Dyck were to win the election.

“I understand that the Swift Current RM is a complicated RM,” she said. “Because it obviously surrounds the city of Swift Current. We need to have good working relationships with both the municipalities that surround us, but also with the city of Swift Current. Given that there are a number of acreages that fall within the RM, a It is a complicated RM to deal with, but I hope I can bring some understanding between those separate communities in a way that can move the RM forward.”

Dyck will face Esther Wall and Richard Kehler to replace Robert Neufeld as RM of Swift Current Reeve.
