The ban on car cruises in Newcastle-under-Lyme is being submitted for approval

A proposal to ban driving through a Staffordshire neighborhood appears to be getting the green light.

The Public Places Protection Order (PSPO) in Newcastle-under-Lyme would ban gatherings of two or more cars or motorcycles “where behavior causes harassment, alarm and distress”.

It follows complaints from residents about loud music, dangerous driving and wheel spin, often late at night, with the A34 at Talke identified as the biggest problem area.

The proposed PSPO has been recommended for approval by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council officials and a decision will be made at a meeting on Tuesday.
