Obama raps Eminem’s Lose Yourself during the Harris Detroit Rally

Former President Barack Obama yielded an improvised rap from by Eminem hit Lose yourself after being introduced by the Detroit rapper himself at a rally for the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris Tuesday in Detroit.

The rally, just weeks before the 2024 presidential election, was packed with energy as Eminem took the stage to fire up the crowd.

The rapper began, “I’m here tonight for a few reasons. As most of you know, the city of Detroit and my home state of Michigan mean a lot to me. This election puts the spotlight on us more than ever, and I think it’s important to use your voice. So I encourage everyone to vote, please.”

He continued: “I also think that people should not be afraid to express their opinions. “I don’t think anyone wants an America where people worry about retaliation… I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”

When Obama took the stage, he performatively admitted that he felt pressure to follow through with such an act.

“I must say that I have driven a lot of rallies. So normally I’m not nervous, but I felt like I was following Eminem in some way,” Obama joked.

The former president then shocked the crowd by rapping the opening lines of Lose Yourself as the audience cheered.

“Palms were sweaty, knees weak, arms heavy,” Obama uttered, pausing for cheers before joking, “I thought Eminem was going to perform, and I was going to pop out.”
