Police make an incredible discovery after figuring out why a specific pizza order was so popular at the restaurant – World News

German police made a wild discovery when they raided a pizzeria in the city of Dusseldorf, specifically with item ‘number 40’ on their menu.

Criminal director Michael Graf von Moltke revealed that police were tipped off in March by food inspectors who thought something was wrong.

Speaking to reporters on Monday (October 21), he revealed that drug squad officers had since observed the restaurant and discovered why one of the pizzas was so popular among customers, according to German news agency dpa.

It may be one of the most bizarre criminal stories of the year so far, and one that seems almost fictional, but Düsseldorf police actually investigated and arrested those responsible for the crime after a raid.

But it didn’t come out of nowhere either, because when police finally went to the pizzeria manager’s apartment, he decided to throw a bag of drugs out the window, which authorities say “fell straight into the pizzeria’s arms.” the police officers’.

It turned out that the restaurant owner had sold pizza number 40 with a special side dish… but it wasn’t garlic dip, it was cocaine.

The 36-year-old was released after a few days, reopened his business and continued to do exactly the same with number 40, described by von Moltke as ‘one of the best-selling pizzas’.

His bounty consisted of 1.6 kg of cocaine, 400 grams of cannabis and €268,000 (US$290,378) in cash.

However, instead of immediately arresting him, police took the opportunity to go further and investigate his supply chain. After several weeks, about 150 officers arrested a huge drug gang in West Germany, where Düsseldorf is located.

Police arrested three suspects, including the head of the operation, who was only 22.

In addition, businesses and homes of a further twelve suspects were raided in their attempts to take down the operation.

During their numerous raids, they discovered two cannabis plantations in the nearby towns of Mönchengladbach and Solingen, with 300 and 60 plants each.

They found not only drugs, but also stabbing weapons, some cash and luxury watches.

Following these discoveries, the pizzeria manager attempted to flee abroad but was arrested and is currently in custody.

In accordance with German privacy rules, none of the suspects’ names were released, while police did not reveal how much the ‘special order’ at the pizzeria actually cost.
