Former Hong Kong dim sum chef gets 17 years in prison for repeatedly assaulting and raping his daughter

A man in Hong Kong has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for repeatedly assaulting and raping his minor daughter over a decade. A judge says the suspect’s continued financial contributions to his family will not mitigate his “hideous” actions.

Judge Anthony Kwok Kai-on said on Monday that the former dim sum chef, identified in court as KKW, showed no sign of remorse during the trial despite causing lifelong trauma to his daughter, who is now 23 years old inflicted.

“It’s hard to believe that a father could do this to his daughter. There is a saying that even a bad tiger will not eat its offspring,” Kwok said.

“The defendant’s actions were beyond bestial and completely unconscionable.”

In July, a seven-member jury convicted KKW, 60, of two counts of sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault and committing a grossly indecent act against a child under 16, and one count of incest and attempted incest in less than three hours. of consultation.

The court heard the father tried to have sex with his then nine-year-old daughter at their home in Aberdeen in 2010, before raping her twice between the same year and 2013, when she was 12 years old.
