Pep Guardiola has confirmed a double injury after Manchester City scored a controversial late winner in the 2-1 win over Wolves on Sunday.

Jørgen Strand Larsen stunned the Premier League champions when he fired Gary O’Neil’s side ahead with just seven minutes on the clock at Molineux.

Joško Gvardiol secured a draw for City and the match headed for a draw before John Stones’ dramatic winner in the 95th minute.

It’s a huge result for City after title rivals Arsenal made a mistake at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, but it’s not all good news for Guardiola’s men.

That’s because they have ruled out two players ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Sparta Prague.

After the 2-1 win over Wolves, Guardiola was asked about key duo Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne and said: ‘I don’t think they will be ready (before midweek).

“We have a few days of training, but I don’t think so.”

Guardiola was also asked about Stones’ late winner, which was controversially awarded after a VAR check.

Bernardo Silva was in front of Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa before Stones headed in and was initially ruled offside by referee Chris Kavanagh.

However, VAR Stuart Attwell disagreed as Silva advanced before Stones made contact with the ball and the goal was ultimately allowed to stand.

‘The moment the linesman raised the flag I said: ‘It’s a corner, how can this be offside?’ – the situation, at the moment of John’s impact, Sa is monitoring the actions perfectly, so it is well represented,” Guardiola said.

The City boss also drew comparisons with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after his team’s late winner.

“We are not used to winning games at the end,” Guardiola told the BBC. ‘Just like Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, it happened many times. It’s a good taste for us.’
