Cold-blooded mother convicted for the deaths of two children found hanging in the basement of her home

A Pennsylvania mother will spend the rest of her life in prison for the barbaric deaths of her two young children, who were found hanging from a dog leash in the basement of their home.

Lisa Snyder, 41, was convicted last month of two counts of first-degree murder in the September 2019 deaths of Brinley, 4, and Conner, 8.

The brother and sister were both found hanged by the same dog leash in the basement of their home in Albany Township, about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Although the children were taken to hospital, they died three days later after being taken off life support.

Snyder had no visible reaction during Thursday’s hearing, in which she was given two life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Meanwhile, President Judge Theresa Johnson called the crime the most violent murder she had ever seen during her time on the bench and blasted Snyder for showing no remorse, AP reports.

Johnson also imposed an additional 8.5 to 17 years for convictions of child endangerment and tampering with evidence.

Snyder’s surviving son, Owen, 22, called her a “monster” and said he no longer considered her his mother when he testified against her in September.

Snyder, 41, was convicted last month of two counts of first-degree murder.

“I just don’t see her as my mother anymore,” he said as his mother cried, the Mainline Times & Suburban reported at the time.

The eldest son also denied his mother’s claims that his younger brother Conner was depressed because he was bullied at school, which led him to kill himself and his sister Brinley.

“He was a happy kid,” Owen said. “He always wanted to do something. He always played with his sister.”

Brinley (left) and Conner (right) were found hanging in the family’s basement.

Authorities also found no evidence to support Snyder’s claim, and an occupational therapist testified that Conner was physically incapable of inflicting these types of injuries on himself or his sister.

Police also cited evidence from Snyder’s phone — including incriminating Google searches such as “how can you hang yourself” — as well as her recent viewing history, including the true crime show “Almost Got Away With It,” just days before her children were hanged. .

A coroner said both children died by hanging and ruled them murders.

Lisa Snyder claimed her son was depressed because he was being bullied at school and killed his sister and himself.

The defense unsuccessfully sought an acquittal, saying the case was based on little more than “guesswork.”

Snyder’s legal team wanted to plead no contest, but mentally ill to third-degree murder, but the judge rejected the plea deal.
