The man sneaked into neighbors’ houses to smell their shoes

He wanted to put himself in their shoes – literally.

A man in Greece was given a one-month suspended prison sentence for sneaking into his neighbors’ houses at night and smelling their shoes.

The 28-year-old sniffer, who told the court in Thessaloniki that he could not explain his foot fetish, was essentially placed on probation and ordered to seek therapy.

He went on to explain that the unusual act caused him great shame – and that he did not mean to harm anyone or break the law.

Neighbors testified to the fact that he never showed any signs of hostile behavior.

The perpetrator was arrested in the early morning of October 8 in Sindos, about 15 kilometers west of Thessaloniki in northern Greece.

A neighbor, who had left his family’s shoes outside his house so they could air out, noticed the man sniffing them.

It was not the first time he was caught red-handed.

Three similar incidents have occurred in the past six months, even as neighbors asked the man’s family to intervene and force him to stop smelling their shoes.
