One-year-old boy and woman die after car and school bus crash in Cornwall | British news

A one-year-old boy and a woman have died after a crash involving a car and a double-decker school bus.

Police were called to the collision on Meaver Road in the village of Mullion, CornwallMonday at 8:40 am.

The woman and child were traveling in an Opel Astra car involved in the accident and were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The woman, in her 30s, died on Thursday, while the boy was in a serious life-threatening condition.

In an update on Friday, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Both have now tragically passed away in hospital. The relatives have been informed.”

About 27 children on the school bus suffered minor injuries, while another child suffered serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the police spokesman added.

Sergeant Phil Brown said: “We are deeply saddened that a woman and child have now died following the collision in Mullion earlier this week.

‘It is impossible to put into words the sadness that their loved ones are currently feeling.

“Our thoughts remain with everyone involved as we continue to work with the school and partners to ensure everyone gets the support they need following this tragic collision.”
