Strictly’s Katya Jones and Wynne Evans can’t stop laughing after ‘grope’ storm | Celebrity News | Showbiz and television

Strictly Come Dancing’s Wynne Evans and his dance partner Katya Jones have worked tirelessly to dispel any misconceptions about the ‘groping’ incident after they were spotted together in Cardiff.

The 52-year-old Go Compare opera star came under scrutiny after viewers caught him putting his hand on Katya’s waist during the live show – a gesture she quickly brushed aside.

In response, they hit back on social media, assuring fans that it was all just an “inside” joke that wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.

Despite their statements, some fans were unhappy, leading to Wynne discussing the topic again during a radio interview, expressing that he was “heartbroken” at the way events unfolded, and emphasizing that there was no inappropriate behavior between them.

Now the dancing duo seemed to be having a great time and were spotted laughing and joking in Cardiff. Bundled up against the harsh British winter, Katya wore a long gray coat, while Wynne kept it casual with a white hoodie and jeans.

Katya, chuckling heartily with her head thrown back in response to something Wynne had said, seemed in good spirits as they walked through the streets of Wales. However, the incident where she pulled his hand away, coupled with her later refusal to give him a high five, did not go unnoticed by Women’s Aid, who weighed in on their thoughts, the Mirror reports.

A released statement raised concerns about the trivialization of inappropriate behavior, saying: “Inappropriate behavior towards women is no joke. With an epidemic of misogyny and violence against women and girls in Britain, we need a media culture where women feel safe to express their views. , where sexually inappropriate behavior is not trivialized or joked about.”

The statement further emphasized the need for cultural change: “It is important that we challenge inappropriate ‘jokes’ so that we do not continue to normalize toxic attitudes that cultivate these forms of gender-based abuse.”

Meanwhile, the pair were rehearsing in Cardiff for the live show, with Wynne also hosting his BBC Radio Wales programme.

After the controversial clip spread online and the duo tried to quell rumors of a significant fallout, Katya clarified on It Takes Two with host Fleur East: “I actually can’t bear to see this guy being portrayed as someone who He isn’t and in fact it couldn’t be further from the truth.”

She continued, clarifying the incident: “I have to make it absolutely clear that this whole hand-holding and high-fiving incident on Saturday night was an inside joke between Wynne and me. Was it a lame joke? Yes. a bad joke yes.”

She concluded by complimenting her dance partner’s skills: “He took it to a whole new level – he was a dancer I’d never met before.”
