The party headquarters must therefore come to the rescue: a survey by krone.at shows that the influx of new members as a result of the Fußi initiative is rather poor. Within the first week, the SPÖ had “some 130 new members”, it says – but there is also a membership campaign currently underway, so it is not at all clear why the new members actually joined. “Regardless of Rudi Fußi and our membership campaign, people regularly join the party,” a spokesperson said.
