Man convicted of selling cocaine in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 54-year-old Rockford man is learning his fate nearly four years after officers caught him selling cocaine.

Vance Patterson is sentenced to 15 years in prison with 18 months of mandatory supervised release for delivery of a controlled substance.

In late 2020, officers with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office heard about a man selling drugs in Rockford.

After identifying Patterson as a suspect, deputies from the Winnebago County Narcotics Unit conducted two controlled buys from him on December 23, 2020, and January 6, 2021.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office arrested Vance after observing him delivering a large quantity of cocaine in the area of ​​14th Street and Ninth Avenue.

Vance previously entered an open plea and was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, according to the Winnebago County Prosecutor’s Office.
