Malayalam actor Bala, also known as Balakumar, was arrested by the Kadavanthra police in Kochi on Monday following a complaint from his ex-wife, Amrutha Suresh. The arrest took place early in the morning at the actor’s residence, along with the detention of Bala’s manager, Rajesh.

The complaint, filed by Amrutha, alleges that Bala had insulted her through his social media posts, which she alleged also caused emotional harm to their daughter. Amrutha’s allegations prompted police action on multiple charges, including social media defamation, insulting the woman and cruelty to children.

According to police sources, Bala has been accused of outraging the modesty of a woman and further charges have been filed under the Juvenile Justice Act. The suit stems from claims that Bala’s online behavior has negatively impacted his daughter’s emotional well-being, as stated in the complaint.

Bala and Amrutha, who had parted ways after a turbulent relationship, are in the public spotlight due to their personal differences. Earlier, Bala had accused Amrutha of stopping him from seeing their daughter after their relationship ended. However, their daughter later addressed the situation via an Instagram video, speaking about the emotional distress she and her mother endured as a result of her father’s actions.

The case has attracted a lot of attention considering Bala’s stature in the Malayalam film industry. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues. Meanwhile, both Bala and his manager are under police custody while further legal proceedings are underway.
