Berkshire County man convicted of 2019 hammer attack that led to death of his estranged wife

A Berkshire County man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife.

Michael Cook was found guilty last week of breaking into his estranged wife Charli’s home in 2019, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors say Cook hit her in the head with a hammer, causing significant brain damage. Five months later, Charli Cook died from the injuries.

Michael Cook Sr. will serve his sentence in state prison and will be eligible for parole in 25 years.
