Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) will make a big decision about her future in EastEnders next week when she decides to leave Walford.

With her family blaming her for sister Amy Mitchell’s (Ellie Dadd) injuries during the recent club crush, Penny feels increasingly left out. Father Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) recently admitted that he would always choose Amy over her.

Tensions rise again next week when Penny accompanies Amy to her physio session at the hospital.

When the teen becomes angry about the pace of her recovery, an argument ensues between Penny and Amy.

Later, Penny makes the decision to leave Walford and arrives at Number 27 to tell father Jack, just as he and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) try to round up Amy.

“She realizes that even though she had no family in Paris, the family she does have in Walford turns against her and she can’t seem to do anything right,” explains actress Kitty Castledine.

‘Penny feels like the only thing she can do is go back to Paris, a place where she can start over. She has hit rock bottom and doesn’t know what to do. She feels abandoned everywhere, so she might as well run back.”

However, as Penny announces the news to her family, the situation escalates and Denise finally reveals that it was daughter Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) who caused Peggy’s crush, and not Penny.

As fans know, Chelsea tampered with the club’s online booking system to sabotage Penny’s evening, after Penny stole her job as manager and recently admitted what she had done to mum Denise.

As all hell breaks loose, an enraged Jack orders Chelsea to turn herself in to the police, and although she initially refuses, some home truths from Amy force her to change her mind.

With Penny seemingly off the hook, will she forgive her father for turning on her, or will she leave town anyway?

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday October 14 at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
