Moss Point man sentenced to 18 years for domestic violence

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) – On Friday, court officials announced that 34-year-old Shamon Jarwon Perryman of Moss Point was convicted of aggravated domestic violence.

Judge Kathy King Jackson sentenced Perryman to a maximum of 20 years, with a total of 18 years in prison for the Mississippi Department of Corrections and two years of post-release reporting.

The conviction stems from an incident on December 12, 2018 in Moss Point. After sentencing, Perryman admitted to the crime but stated he was too drunk at the time to remember the details.

“The victim in this case bore the brunt of the defendant’s anger and suffered hours of physical and emotional abuse,” said District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath. “The defendant put cigarettes out on her body, poured bleach and toilet water in her hair, dragged her, terrorized her with two guns, threw beer bottles at her and ultimately shot her in the head. It’s a miracle she survived the brutal attack.
