A local man with a lengthy criminal record will spend a year behind bars following his most recent arrest following a hearing Thursday in Warren County Circuit Court.

Circuit Judge M. James Chaney sentenced 34-year-old Kory Kevin Grayer to a year in prison for parole violation following his arrest in August on a litany of charges.

Grayer was arrested in August after a joint effort between the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) and the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) led to the discovery of drugs and weapons in an apartment.

“This was the result of a months-long investigation, during which time undercover sales of methamphetamine had occurred,” Pace said in August. Pace said Grayer also had outstanding warrants with VPD and the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) for sale of a controlled substance and absconding, respectively.

Pace said the search yielded approximately 1 ounce of cocaine; 3 ounces of methamphetamine; about 5 1/2 pounds of “high-quality” marijuana; more than 1,400 MDMA pills (commonly called ecstasy); seven firearms, including one confirmed stolen; and approximately $600 cash.

Grayer was charged by WCSO with sale of methamphetamine; trafficking in cocaine; trafficking in methamphetamine; trafficking in MDMA; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of a stolen firearm; and seven counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to court records, Grayer was convicted in Warren County in 2019 of sale of a controlled substance.
