Perth chef and Italian restaurant owner Maurizio Di Ciano is jailed for sexually abusing foreign female workers

A prominent Perth chef and Italian restaurant owner has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting three of his female employees.

Maurizio Di Ciano, who once ran the WA Italian Club restaurant and the now closed No Menu restaurant in Highgate, was arrested in 2021.

Police said the workers were between 20 and 30 years old and were all foreigners who had recently been employed in their positions when the violations occurred.

Di Ciano, now 51, was convicted at a trial earlier this year of three counts of sexual penetration without consent and pleaded guilty to indecent assault against two women.

Di Ciano also had to pay an $8,000 fine.

His sentence expired in July 2024 and he will be eligible for parole in 2030.
