Pearl man convicted of aggravated domestic violence

PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) – A Pearl man has pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic assault.

On February 5, 2024, Pearl police responded to a welfare check at a home shared by Matthew Tate, 27, and the victim.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim and observed significant injuries, prompting the involvement of paramedics. The victim, who was not named, was then transported to a hospital for treatment.

After a thorough investigation, Tate was arrested for aggravated domestic violence.

On Thursday, Tate was sentenced to 20 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 10 years suspended, according to the Madison and Rankin Counties District Attorney’s Office.

After his release, he will be placed on probation for five years under the supervision of the MDOC and will no longer be allowed to have contact with the victim.
