Hemoshree Bhadra, who claims to be the title winner of Miss Kolkata 2016, sparked controversy with her plunging crop top at a Durga Puja pandal in the city.

The model was severely criticized by netizens for wearing an inappropriate outfit at the holy site and religious celebrations.

She shared the photo on social media with two of her friends, with one wearing a long black dress with a thigh-high slit and the other wearing an orange mini dress with knee-length boots.

Sannati Mitra, the model influencer, who shared the photo on social media, wrote, “It was so rebellious, we never thought it was possible. As a girl we always knew that our body is ‘BAD’, but life is like that, it gives new examples and experiences (sic).”

One netizen commented on the post: “I’m ashamed because she dresses in a holy place.” “Stop this kind of vulgarity during puja mandap. This is embarrassing,” wrote another social media user.

“This is not women’s empowerment. This is making fun of our sanatan dharm and besides, you naked souls wear shoes and sandals during darshan in a pandal,” one comment said.

“Sharam karlo thodi, bhagwan ke samne to acche kapde pehen lo (Have a little shame, at least wear good clothes in front of God),” another user commented.

One user wrote: “Popularity is so great that you can log in to your kitna girenge (How low will these people go in terms of popularity)?” While another netizne added: “There are no words to explain this nonsense. Our culture is on its way to the end.”
