Woman reportedly drove 110 miles per hour with a 7-year-old girl in the car

CLAY COUNTY, Minn. (KVLY/Gray News) – A woman is facing hit-and-run and child endangerment charges after police say she was caught driving more than 100 mph through a county in Minnesota drove.

Kathryn Joanna Duray of Saint Francis, Minnesota, is charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle and child endangerment, which is a gross misdemeanor.

According to court records, a Hawley Police Department officer clocked a vehicle traveling 110 mph in a 50 mph zone around 11 p.m. The officer turned on his emergency lights and sirens and followed the car westbound on Highway 10.

According to court records, the officer followed Duray for 13 miles. Officers with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office determined the car was traveling 105-105 mph.

“At that time, three patrol vehicles attempted to stop the vehicle, all with lights and sirens activated,” according to court documents.

Stop sticks were deployed by Glyndon police and Duray’s car stopped near the 300 block of State Street in Glyndon. Duray was identified as the driver and officers said a 7-year-old girl was also in the car.

According to court documents, Duray claimed she did not see law enforcement and said she would never run from law enforcement.

“The defendant stated that she was trying to get to a hotel room in Fargo to be safe from people trying to get her or her phone. The defendant also made other statements about calling Jesus Christ,” agents wrote in the lawsuits.

Duray appeared in Clay County Court on Monday, where a judge set bail at $6,000 without conditions or $2,000 with conditions. She is currently out of jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
