Two teens arrested in connection with multiple crimes in Colorado Springs and El Paso County

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs Police said they arrested two 14-year-old boys after they were allegedly connected to multiple crimes in Colorado Springs and El Paso County.

Police said that during the night of Oct. 13, the two teens were connected to multiple crimes, including robbing a liquor store in Colorado Springs with a stolen vehicle, other vehicle burglaries and allegedly threatening a witness with a gun.

The Colorado Springs Strategic Investigations Unit said they quickly identified the suspects and arrested a man three days after that crime. Police then let the teen go with a GPS monitor. Charges were pending for the second teen.

Police said that as the investigation continued, they learned that the offenders were also allegedly part of multiple crimes on the morning of August 24.

“Those crimes include the robbery of a pawn shop located in unincorporated El Paso County, two motor vehicle thefts, the attempted robbery of a gun store and the successful robbery of a second pawn shop where “28 firearms were stolen. In both completed robberies, the suspects drove stolen cars through the front door to gain entry to the businesses,” Colorado Springs police said in an online report.

Police said only one of those firearms has been recovered.

On Nov. 8, police issued arrest warrants for the two teens and arrested them that same day. They face charges of second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, two counts of motor vehicle theft and 28 counts of possession of a handgun by a minor.

Police said they are still working to identify other suspects involved in the crimes.
