Martha Stewart makes a surprising confession about ex Andrew, who cheated on her during their 29-year marriage

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Renowned businesswoman Martha Stewart has revealed that she has not spoken to her ex-husband Andrew “Andy” Stewart in more than two decades. She makes another shocking confession about her relationship with her ex-husband with whom she cheated.

In an interview with PEOPLE on Monday, Oct. 21, at the New York premiere of her Netflix documentary “Martha,” the 83-year-old businesswoman admitted that she hasn’t spoken to her ex-husband Andy in more than 20 years.

When asked if Andy had seen the documentary, Martha told PEOPLE: “The ex-husband? I have no idea. I haven’t spoken to him in over 20 years. Unfortunately.”

Martha Stewart and Andrew Stewart were married from 1961 to 1990 and share a daughter Alexis Stewart, whom they welcomed in 1965. The entrepreneur revealed in the Netflix documentary that they were unfaithful to each other during their marriage.

The businesswoman also revealed in the ‘Martha’ trailer that she cheated on her ex-husband during their nearly three-decade marriage.

Martha said in the trailer, “Young women, take my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts cheating on you, he’s a piece of shit. Get out of that marriage,” referring to Andy cheating. Martha with her former assistant Robyn Fairclough.

A producer added, “Didn’t you have an affair early on?” To which Martha relented and said, “Yes, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”

The lifestyle mogul’s comments came after she recently admitted it was “very easy” to hide her infidelity from her ex-husband for 30 years.

During her speech at the Manhattan launch party for her 100th book earlier in October, friend Lee Brian Schrager joked about Martha’s infidelity.

“If you’re looking for ideas (for another book), maybe you can talk about how you (had) an affair that happened thirty years ago and you kept it a secret, how is that possible?” Lee joked.

“Very easy, you have to be careful,” Martha replied with a grin at the time, per Daily Mail.

Andy Stewart is said to be ‘furious’ about ex-wife Martha Stewart’s shocking confession

According to reports following the release of the ‘Martha’ trailer, Andy Stewart was “furious” over Martha Stewart’s confession. In her upcoming Netflix documentary, she revealed that she cheated on her publisher’s ex-husband, believing he was unaware of her infidelity.

Andy, who had an affair with Martha’s former assistant Fairclough and left the “Martha Stewart Living” host after 29 years of marriage, is reportedly “furious” about her public confession, according to NewsNation’s Paula Froelich.

“Neighbors of Andy and his children say the publisher is furious because he is very private and feels like he is being dragged into the drama… again,” Froelich said.

Andrew was a 23-year-old law student at Yale when he first met Martha on a blind date. After their divorce in 1990, he married Fairclough, but their marriage also ultimately ended in divorce, according to the New York Post.

Martha Stewart reportedly treated her husband ‘shabbily’

Jerry Oppenheimer, the author of the memoir ‘Just Desserts’, claimed that Martha “treated her husband badly” in an exclusive 2014 interview with MailOnline.

“She had a hellish marriage of more than a quarter of a century, during which she treated her husband shabbily. It was a horrible union that ended in a nasty divorce,” Oppenheimer claimed at the time.

In 2020, Martha reflected on her ‘painful’ divorce from Andy, revealing that they had not communicated since their split.

“Divorce was a terrible thing for me because we were the first in my family to get divorced,” she told PEOPLE. “And the fact that we haven’t spoken to each other since the divorce is even more painful.”

“But I am very strong and I am very motivated to continue with life,” she added.

RJ Cutler’s new documentary, which follows Martha’s journey from teen model to creative influencer and America’s first self-made female millionaire, features a number of personal interviews.

It also looks at Martha’s professional comeback after serving time in prison for insider trading in 2004.
