Many slaves died due to infections.

Slaves were tied in chains all day to prevent their escape. They slept and lived in the same basement.

Slavery was one of the sins committed by the royal family in the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The prison rooms for the slaves on Zanzibar in Tanzania have been set up for the slaves. In the 19th century, black slaves were held captive in such cellars by Omani Arabs. They were sold in the market after being tortured in these cells. Recently, a content creator visited these basements to show the pathetic state of such buildings, which were used to torture the black slaves. The windows were made thin to prevent escape. The slaves had to sleep among their feces and toilets. The cellmates who survived were later sold on the market. The video has gone viral.

Content creator Architect Russell shared a video on his Instagram showing the architecture of Zanzibar Prison in Tanzania. During the filming of the video, the man claimed that the slaves were beaten in the basement until their bodies began to bleed. They were kept in chains all day to prevent them from escaping. They slept and lived in the same basement.

While sleeping around the toilets and feces, many slaves developed life-threatening infections. Those who survived such diseases were sold on the market. The bodies of the deceased slaves were kept in the basement. The content creator claimed that approximately 70 children and women were being held in the basement. Slaves were forced to drink contaminated water. Architect Russell was shocked to learn of the atrocities faced by black men in the 19th century.

“A space so small and yet filled with so much pain and suffering. This is the true story of the slaves imprisoned by Omani Arabs in Stonetown, Zanzibar in the 19th century.’ wrote architect Russell.

Along with the content creator, netizens also expressed surprise after hearing about the torture faced by black slaves. As architect Russell talked about the existence of such a basement, many netizens pointed out the happiness on his face while narrating the incident.

“He seemed way too happy to talk about that,” one user wrote.
