What are the chances of Georgia making the College Football Playoffs? Match by match predictions

He Georgia Bulldogs It seemed like a sure guarantee for success this year. College Football Playoffs, especially with the expanded 12-team format.

After completely missing the playoffs last season with just one loss, the Bulldogs wanted to avenge that snub and prove they are still national title contenders.

However, after falling 28-10 to Ole Miss in Week 11, Georgia’s path back to the playoffs is now much more complicated than previously thought. ESPN’s playoff predictor currently gives the team a 73 percent chance of making the 12-team field but whether that comes to fruition depends on how he handles his final three games.

The Bulldogs don’t have much time to lick their wounds and regroup, with a massive primetime contest looming in Week 12. If they can handle that, their final two games should be easy paths to the playoffs.

Tennessee vs. Georgia (Nov. 16)

The Dawgs have a 62 percent chance of redemption at home against the SEC-leading Volunteers. Coach Kirby Smart tends not to make the same mistakes twice and it is very difficult to come to Athens and steal a victory. This would be the toughest competition on Georgia’s remaining regular season slate, so if it takes care of business here and takes the table to Atlanta, it will have a 96 percent chance of making the playoffs even without the crown of the SEC.

UMass vs. Georgia (Nov. 22)

I know what you’re all wondering. How the hell did Georgia get this comfortable matchup at the end of the year? Well, the Dawgs appeared in marquee matchups earlier in the season, so they had to delay their non-conference schedule until now. UMass is compiling a Check for 1.9 million dollars getting a fat L at week 13 and no one really complaining except us on the couch. Even ESPN gives the Minutemen a zero percent chance of pulling off the upset.

Georgia Tech vs. Georgia (Nov. 29)

Also known as Clean, Old-fashioned Hate, this classic rivalry game could determine Georgia’s entire season. The Yellow Jackets defeated undefeated Miami in Week 11 and could have the Dawgs in their sights if Smart doesn’t prepare his guys properly. A loss here would mean Georgia likely won’t make the SEC title game, dropping its playoff chances to 61 percent and, if we’re being honest, leaving the three-loss Dawgs on the outside looking in.

If Georgia handles its business and goes 3-0 over the last month, they will either earn a first-round bye in the playoffs as SEC champions or host ninth-seeded Indiana in Athens.
