Dolphins snap three-game losing streak with much-needed win over Rams

He Miami Dolphins are back in the win column, snapping a three-game losing streak against the Los Angeles Rams, 23-15, on “Monday Night Football.”

At 2-6 and last in the AFC East, the Dolphins were desperate for a road win at SoFi Stadium on Monday night, and they did it against a Rams team that is now 4-5.

Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense got exactly what they had planned on the first drive of the game, moving smoothly down the field for a touchdown.

Tagovailoa needed just five plays to go 70 yards, finishing with Malik Washington’s 18-yard run for six points.

It was something of a trick play, as Tagovailoa faked the pass to De’Von Achane in the backfield before handing it off to Washington running in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense, which has performed well in recent weeks, was stymied by the Dolphins defense during this one.

The Rams had three punts and two turnovers (a Stafford interception and a Kyren Williams fumble) in their first five drives before finally being able to score a field goal.

In fact, the Rams couldn’t find the end zone even once in this game, as all of their points came off the foot of kicker Josh Karty.

The Dolphins slowed after that initial touchdown, but were able to find the color paint again, and Tyreek Hill eventually came in for the first time since Week 1.

It wasn’t a crushing day for Hill, who had just 16 yards on three catches, but one of them was a one-yard touchdown catch on a big play. Hill broke in on what appeared to be an Achane run, but Tagovailoa got the ball out quickly and threw a strike to Hill, who clinched it.

Jason Sanders kicked a field goal that virtually iced Miami’s victory, as the Rams only managed Karty’s fifth field goal of the game near the end of the fourth quarter and only an onside kick was their last hope for a possible end of the game. extra time.

However, Miami got that try from Los Angeles and tasted victory once again.

Scoring-wise, Tagovailoa finished 20-of-28 for 207 yards with a touchdown and interception, while Stafford was 23-of-46 for 293 yards.

Puka Nacua led the way in the receiving department in this one, catching nine passes for 98 yards, while Cooper Kupp had 80 yards on seven catches.
