    James Pérez Jr. was only 6 years old when his father, James Jahar Pérez, was born killed in his car by a Portland police officer in March 2004. Officer Jason Sery shot Perez three times after his partner grabbed Perez by the arm and tried to pull him from the front seat of a four-door car in North Portland. Pérez, 28, was unarmed.
