How much did the SEC fine LSU for throwing debris on the field during the Alabama football game?

LSU fans decide to throw debris onto the field during the alabama football The game will cost the Tigers.

The SEC announced Monday that LSU will be fined $250,000 “for the interruption of its contest against Alabama when fans threw debris onto the field.”

The funds will go into the SEC’s graduate scholarship program, unlike field majors where schools pay the opposing school.

LSU fans threw debris onto the field in the second half after a third-down mask call extended a drive for Alabama. While some fans booed, others threw trash.

“Fans, please do not throw debris onto the field,” the Tiger Stadium announcer said as objects flew onto the grass. “Do not throw debris into the field.”

Fans at Tiger Stadium did it again when a pass to receiver Kyren Lacy was ruled incomplete upon review. Alabama won the game 42-13.

LSU will now have to find the people who littered the field using all available videos and ban them from all LSU sporting events for the remainder of the school year, per conference policies. LSU must also review and update game management procedures to prevent that from happening again and provide a report summarizing those efforts to the SEC.

“The Conference will not be suspending alcohol sales privileges for Louisiana State University at this time, but reserves the right to do so if other requirements outlined above are not met,” the SEC announcement said.

Next up, the Crimson Tide turns its attention to Mercer on Saturday (1 p.m., SEC Network+/ESPN+) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
