Man convicted of driving under the influence in a 2022 Ocean Springs crash that left two people dead

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) – Tuesday morning, Joseph Nangle was sentenced in a Jackson County courtroom for a fatal DUI case that occurred in July 2022.

Nangle was sentenced to 25 years for two consecutive DUI charges, for a total of 50 years, with the final five years of post-release supervision.

Nangle previously pleaded guilty to the crash, which occurred on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

Authorities responded to Highway 90 in front of the Raising Cane’s in Ocean Springs, where they found a five-vehicle crash, with multiple vehicles on fire and multiple people injured.

One person died on the spot, another in hospital. The victims were identified as sisters from New Orleans: Mary “Julie” Kelley, 52, and Elizabeth “Lisa” Conners (Kelley), 54.

Nangle was arrested a week later on July 16 and initially held on a $500,000 bond.
