Carroll Middle School teacher arrested for allegedly having sex with former student

Keller, Texas – A teacher at Carroll Middle School is facing charges after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a former student.

Keller police arrested 45-year-old Angela Barnes on Monday.

They began investigating her in late September after receiving a tip that she was involved with an underage boy who was one of her former students at Carroll Middle School.

Detectives found evidence that Barnes had a sexual relationship with the teen between June and July 2024, police said.

She is now charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between a teacher and a student.

Police say they do not believe there are any more victims.

However, anyone with information is asked to contact Keller police.

Carroll ISD released the following statement:

Carroll ISD was recently notified by Keller Police of the arrest of a female teacher at Carroll Middle School accused of an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Carroll ISD immediately placed this staff member on administrative leave and reported to appropriate authorities. The district was notified that the alleged crime occurred off campus this summer, within the jurisdiction of the Keller Police Department. Based on the information we received, no incidents have occurred on CISD campuses. CISD is working with Keller Police and Child Protective Services as they investigate the allegations.

The safety and security of all students is always our top priority and any allegations of adult misconduct are promptly addressed and reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
