Texas teacher arrested for inappropriate relationship with student

Authorities arrested a Texas teacher on Monday for allegedly having an “inappropriate relationship” with a former student over the summer. Carroll Middle School teacher Angela Barnes, 45, allegedly had an affair with a teenage boy off campus between June and July, as stated by Keller Public Safety and school officials.

An investigation launched in late September revealed that Barnes was involved in a sexual relationship with the minor, according to police. She is charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between teacher and student and was booked into the Keller Regional Jail.

A mugshot released by jail officials shows Barnes smiling awkwardly during her booking for the sex crimes charge. Following the allegations, Carroll Independent School District immediately placed her on leave, as reported by WFAA.

The school district acknowledged that the incident occurred off campus last summer, within the jurisdiction of the Keller Police Department. They stated that based on current information, no incidents have occurred on CISD campuses. CISD is working with Keller Police and Child Protective Services as they investigate the allegations.

The neighborhood is located in Southlake, a suburb of Dallas. Keller Public Safety currently believes there are no additional alleged victims of Barnes.
