Sinn Féin questioned about age of teenager, texted by senator

Michelle O’Neill has responded at Stormont to the age of the teenager who received inappropriate text messages from former Irish senator Niall Ó Donnghaile.

On Monday, Sinn Féin’s First Minister and Deputy Leader told the Northern Ireland Assembly that the party’s membership files showed the boy was 17 at the time.

But the youth had said he was 16 years old. Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald is also expected to officially correct the record later in the Dáil (lower house of the Irish parliament).

She also spoke about it to the media on Monday.
